Blessed Guido M. Conforti and Holy Mary

Pope John Paul II on the Holy RosaryIn his message for World Mission Sunday, the pope linked the prayer of the Rosary with the mission of the Church: mission with prayer; contemplation of Christ through Mary.

“I would like to suggest to all of you that you intensify your praying of the Rosary, privately and in community, to obtain from the Lord those graces that the Church and humanity especially need. I invite everyone to do this: children, adults, young and old, families, parishes and religious communities.” (“Mary and the Mission of the church in the year of the Rosary,” #6, January 12, 2003, Feast of the Baptism of the Lord)

“If the Rosary keeps pace with the speed of our lives, it can become a privileged instrument for building peace in the hearts of persons, in families and among peoples. With Mary, we can obtain everything from her Son Jesus. Supported by Mary, we will not hesitate to devote ourselves generously to taking the proclamation of the Good News to the ends of the earth.” (“Mary and the Mission of the church in the year of the Rosary,” #6, January 12, 2003, Feast of the Baptism of the Lord).

At the conclusion of his apostolic Letter, Pope John Paul II writes this beautiful hymn:
“O Blessed Rosary of Mary, sweet chain which unites us to God, bond of love which unites us to the angels, tower of salvation against the assaults of Hell, safe port in our universal shipwreck, we will never abandon you. You will be our comfort in the hour of death: yours our final kiss as life ebbs away. And the last word from our lips will be your sweet name, O Queen of the Rosary, O dearest Mother, O Refuge of Sinners, O Sovereign Consoler of the Afflicted. May you be everywhere blessed, today and always, on earth and in heaven.” (Rosarium Virgins Mariae, #43)
