Prayer for Vocations
ord Jesus, you were so sensitive to the cries of Bartimeus, the blind man that you decidedly interrupted your journey.
You gave him all your attention and your heart.
With that gesture you taught your disciples how to pay attention to the little ones, and you taught them how to call:
“Courage! Get up. He’s calling you.”
Trusting in you, the blind man got up from his condition.
You made real his soul’s dream, by showing him his salvation.
Immediately healed, he followed you on your way.
“Courage! Get up. He’s calling you.”
Awaken that same sensitivity in our heart, Lord, give us eyes to see the needs of our brothers and sisters.
Give us a heart capable of meeting them all, so that we be messengers of your calling.
Help us to say with docility and decisiveness,
“Courage! Get up. He’s calling you.”
We ask most heartedly, stretch out over us your hand of mercy.
Give us a courageous and dynamic impulse to awaken “Vocations and Ministries for the New Millennium.”
Called, with renewed ardor, may we echo the call,
“Courage! Get us. He’s calling you.”
